Urban Coders Guild is a Tulsa-based nonprofit that provides free, year-round computer science education to middle and high school students from communities that are underrepresented in the tech industry—particularly Black, Latino, Indigenous, and female-identifying youth. Our mission is to prepare students for high-demand, high-paying careers in technology.

Yes. Our programs are 100% free to participating students. We also provide meals, transportation support, access to laptops and devices, and cover the cost of certification exams so that every student has the tools they need to succeed.

Urban Coders Guild programs are open to middle and high school students in the Tulsa area who are interested in learning about technology, coding, and computer science. No prior experience is necessary—just curiosity and a willingness to learn.

Students learn a wide range of real-world, in-demand tech skills, including:
– Web development
– Mobile app development
– Cybersecurity
– Game design
– Data science
– Coding fundamentals (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python)
They also build projects, explore career options, and receive mentorship from tech professionals. -
Our programs follow a three-phase structure:
– Explore (July–Sept): Introductory coding and hands-on learning.
– Equip (Oct–March): Skill-building and career-aligned training.
– Empower (April–June): Certification prep, internships, and leadership development.Students are placed into one of three tracks—Apprentice, Journeyman, or Craftsman—based on their age, skill level, and experience.

During the school year, classes meet twice a week in the evenings (typically from 5:30–7:30 p.m.). In the summer, we offer more intensive coding camps during the day. We also host events, hackathons, and field trips throughout the year.

Yes. Our programs are designed to help students build a strong portfolio, earn credentials, and access college and career opportunities. Many of our students go on to pursue degrees in computer science, while others enter the workforce directly through internships, apprenticeships, or tech certifications.

We understand that transportation and scheduling can be barriers. Urban Coders Guild partners with organizations like MODUS to offer transportation credits, and we work closely with families to accommodate busy schedules. Meals are also provided during programming hours.

Absolutely. We host family events, workshops, and information sessions throughout the year. Parents are also encouraged to volunteer, attend student showcases, and support their child’s journey into tech.
