Mikeal Vaughn
Mikeal Richard Vaughn is an accomplished leader and innovator committed to creating equitable pathways in technology for underserved communities. A proud native of North Tulsa and a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Mikeal founded Urban Coders Guild to empower young people through high-quality computer science education in web development, mobile applications, game design, and cybersecurity. His leadership has provided transformative experiences to more than 300 students, actively building a diverse talent pipeline that contributes to Tulsa’s growing technology sector.
Before establishing Urban Coders Guild, Mikeal gained extensive professional experience managing technology projects and leading international teams at global corporations such as Verizon Business and Hewlett Packard. His career included optimizing complex processes for major clients, navigating diverse cultural and business landscapes, and implementing innovative technology solutions, all of which deeply influence his strategic approach to community empowerment.
Beyond his professional career, Mikeal is dedicated to mentorship and fostering strong community connections. His collaborations with schools, tech companies, and philanthropic organizations have expanded opportunities and secured critical resources for underserved youth. His impactful work has earned accolades such as Verizon’s Outstanding Customer Service Award. Holding an MBA from Temple University Japan and a BA in Spanish and International Business from the University of Maryland, Mikeal brings a global perspective to his mission.
